Day 9 27/10 - Okavango to Maun

Morning walk 2,5 hours. Great after all the sitting. We come very close to a male elephant, but manage to stay calm. So does he. R tells us about different strategies for different animal encounters. For lions you must look it straight into the eyes, if you look down you become pray. Never forget that you too is a predator. Hold your ground and act strong, but not threatening. A leopard is different, it will jump on you if you come too close and if it realizes you have seen it. So pretend not to see it if you do. Just whistle, and keep strolling along. All those things very good to know, and very nice we had no use for them, this time. We say bye bye to this special place and load up the mokoros for the ride back to where we are supposed to meet up with O and P.
Supposed to. 11 sharp is not 11 in this country. If you are in a hurry . . . But, we are in a hurry, airplanes don't wait and we are supposed to be at the airport two hours in advance. Our flight is 13.50. Our guys arrive at 11.50. There was a car stuck in the sand, with three women in it. Of course they had to help them out. I get a little upset, but how can you be angry at such wonderful human beings? Not for more than a minute or so. We make peace and go to the airport. And, our flight is delayed so no worries.
Hakuna Matata.
Botswana in our hearts forever.
